Collaboration with

Creativity, technology, and community all lie in the heart of New Bedford Research & Robotics (NBRR).

Their ecosystem is host to robotic arms and other emerging technologies that are used to bring their innovative ideas to life. Our partnership with NBRR is built to support the next generation of makers through providing access to software capable of controlling these new technologies and knowledge-sharing between our teams.

Over the previous years, we’ve collaborated with the NBRR team who quickly got to grips with our platform, using it across various projects to push what is possible to the very limit. For us, it has been incredible to see the results of these experiments, allowing us to see from a different perspective what Aibuild software is capable of achieving.

A standout example is their Summer Research Intensive, where high school students explored robotic 3D printing with ceramics using our Aibuild platform. These programs are a catalyst for fostering a new generation of innovators and problem-solvers, equipping young minds with the skills and confidence to explore advanced manufacturing. The speed with which these students created successful toolpaths is a strong endorsement of our team’s efforts to make LFAM as intuitive and accessible as possible.

"In the spectrum of additive robotic processes and materials we are engaging at NBRR from industry to education, Aibuild has been a seamless platform for robotic 3D output and innovation!”
Mark Parsons, Founder of NBRR

A recent milestone of our collaboration is the Taurus project, a demonstration of nonplanar robotic 3D printing using the Massive Dimension extruder powered by Aibuild software. Made from eight 3D printed sections, each taking eight hours to print, the final part is held together with high test fishing line, staying true to NBRR’s New Bedford roots of being the largest commercial fishing port by value in the United States. This project illustrates the potential of large format additive manufacturing when technology and knowledge-sharing align.

Seeing Aibuild software powering our trusted partners Massive Dimension hardware to help grow the next community of makers and innovators shows what is achieved with true collaboration. This proven combination means the NBRR team can focus on innovation, testing, and fostering the next generation of makers and innovators. Our partnership with NBRR has already started to make advanced manufacturing more accessible for the next generation of engineers, and we’re excited for what lies ahead.
